Measuring Devices

There have been many numerous notices over the past several years about having water measuring devices and lockable flow control devices in place before water is delivered.  There have been significant improvements in compliance.  Patrons should be proud of there accomplishments in helping conserve and control water.  The District congratulates and thank you.  Measurement and control devices will continually be enforced and evaluated for improved accounting of water usage and to determine better shrink numbers.

The ditch riders will be inspecting all measuring devices each year before water is delivered.  Idaho Code 42.701 and code 42.903 requires adequate measuring devices before water is delivered.  If the measuring device is not satisfactory when inspected, then no water will be delivered until the measuring device has been fixed and approved.  Call and meet with the ditch rider (see “Contacts” page) when you are ready for water.

IDWR has a web page that depicts the “Minimum Acceptable Standards for Open Channel and Closed Conduit Measuring Devices.”  Head gates and measuring devices can be obtained from the Irrigation Center in Arco, Idaho.
